Community Impact
The national gathering generates $20 million in
revenue for the city of Louisville each year
- In 1999, 800 local elementary students
participated in PALS (mentoring program)
- In 1999, FFA members and local elementary
students gathered 15 tons of food for Kentucky Harvest
- In 1999, 614 elementary school students
learned about agriculture through the PALS mentoring program
- Over 2,500 volunteers help make the
convention a success; 1,000 Kentucky volunteers alone

Membership
Today, there are 453,902 FFA members, aged 12-21 in
7,220 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands
- 35% of FFA members are female; women hold
47% of state leadership positions
- 90% of FFA members are in grades 9-12; 5%
are in grades 6-8; 5% are high school graduates
- 27% of FFA members live in rural, farm
areas; the remainder live in rural non-farm (39%), urban and suburban areas (34%)
- FFA chapters are in 10 of the 15 largest
cities, including New York, Chicago and Philadelphia
